Named for the northeastern village on the island of Tenerife, Taganan Tinto is a blend of Listan Negro, Listan Gaucho, Malvasia Negro and many other varieties - some of which remain unidentified. The vines are untrained and grow wildly in sandy, basaltic soils. Some of the vines in these terraced vineyards are around 300 years old! Harvested in mid-August, the grapes saw a 12-15 day maceration in open top bins, then aged one year in used barrels. A pure, energetic expression of volcanic island wine. Kirk Sutherland
