The Punta Crena estate has been farming grapes in Liguria for over 500 years. Their vineyards, planted between 100-300 meters elevation, have always been farmed naturally and without chemicals, or as Paolo Ruffino says “We’re not ‘organic,’ we just do everything the same way our ancestors have for hundreds of years.”
Another nearly extinct indigenous Ligurian varietal, it is rumored that Lumassina derives its name from "Lumaca," the Italian word for snail due to how slowly it ripens. Only a handful of growers still work with the grape, and Punta Crena makes the benchmark iteration. Fermented in stainless steel and bottled shortly after primary fermention is finished in order to capture a bit of spritz. A slightly floral nose of gardena and peony. Super light bodied, with notes of crisp pear and mineral water with freshly squeeze lemon juice. Kirk Sutherland
