This month we explore Central Europe and the wines of Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. More than three decades after the Berlin Wall fell, I feel like there is still a psychological and cultural border for wine drinkers.

There are myriad linguistic, cultural, and political hurdles to learning about wines from these regions. But for those who surmount these barriers, there are significant vinous rewards to be reaped, as some of Europe's most incredible wine regions are behind the old Iron Curtain.
