Made by Charles Dufour, using vines owned by his mother. Base 2013, disgorged May 2019. Vinous and expressive, this is very exciting to drink. Creamy, salty, and a little butterscotch, with an electric backbone of acid, which is an irresistable combination.
Notes from the importer: Base wine is from 2013 harvest, with an addition of 20% Vin de Reserve from 2010/2011. 100% pinot noir harvested from Charles Dufour’s mother’s vineyards in l’Vallée de l’Arce (Côtes de Bar). Clay/calcereous soils. These vineyards will be certified organic starting in 2017. Vinified in cement and large old oak barrels (bourguignonnes). 4.5 years on the lees before tirage. No dosage and no sulfur added during the disgorgement phase. This is a wine that cries out for food, perfect for the table, and will complement a wide variety of preps. Let’s bring back drinking Champagne with dinner.
