An Evening With Joy Kull of La Villana

Thursday, May 1st we are hosting Joy Kull of La Villana in Lazio, Italy.
Joy grew up in Connecticut to Swiss parents, and when her father opened up a wine shop when she was in college, she worked there during the summer and was bit by the wine bug. However, her sommelier training and WSET classes left her feeling cold.
Her subsequent journey has been to move to Italy and make natural wine in Lazio, first with Le Coste, and then under her own "La Villana" label starting in 2016. She and her husband, a local shepherd, have just a few hectares of vines that are worked using organic and biodynamic practices. The wines can be funky, they can be moving; they reflect the volcanic soil around Lake Bolsena, they reflect an irreverent playfulness that always grabs us.
We're excited for her to share her knowledge of natural farming and winemaking, as well as her experience living as an American expat in Italy.
