The "Majè" bottling from the estate comes from younger vines and is the earliest drinking offering. Grapes are destemmed, gently pressed and fermented at cold temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The finished wine gets a short 5 month rest on its lees in the same tanks before being bottled. 2020 was a great vintage in Liguria, producing wines that were slightly lower in alcohol than previous vintages, and the Majè bottling really benefitted from the cooler growing season. Medium-bodied, perfectly balanced and wonderfully zesty, with an herbal nose of thyme and rosemary, backed by ripe grapefruit and delicate floral aromas. Elegant, mineral and refreshing. “Majè,” in the Ligurian dialect, refers to the stone terraces in the area.
Sourced from young vines (less than 50 years old) planted in limestone-rich soils mixed with white & blue clay, dense with fossils. The bulk of the grapes come mainly from the hill of Garaxin, above the village of Pogli, 210-260 meters above sea level. South facing vineyards planted on traditional stone walled terraces.
The grapes are destemmed, soft-pressed, and fermented at 18°C. Aged in stainless steel tanks for 5 months on the lees.
