Rosalind Reynolds is a fresh new face on the California wine scene. She produced her first batch of wines in 2018, after having worked a few years with Pax Mahle in Sebastopol. She proudly crafts wines without any additions sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards.
Colombard is a somewhat forgotten French grape from the Gascony region. It is a crossing of Chenin Blanc and Gouais Blanc, and has a long history in California, where the locals called it 'French Colombard" (who knows why they felt the need to add the word French, maybe to make it sound more fancy) because of its high yields and ability to ripen while maintaining good acidity. Today, there are some plantings of older vines that folks like Martha Stoumen and Rosalind work it, producing bright, zesty wines from. Rosalind fermented the juice in a mix of old barrel and concrete tank, bottling it unfiltered with no addition of sulfur.
A vibrant floral nose. Mouth-watering, zippy and high-toned, with a great combination of grapefruit and peach. Delicious.
