Sam Vinciullo is a winemaker working out on the edge of the world in Western Australia's Margaret River. After studying wine in Adelaide he made his way to Sicily to cut his teeth on the slopes of Mount Etna while working with winemakers like Frank Corneilisen. The first lines of his website detail the, "dry grown, own rooted grapevines farmed without herbicides or systemic chemicals. The wines are made without any additions, fining or filtration. No sulphur is added to any wines."
The 2020 "Red" is blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The heady aromas are lush with black olives, black cherry, and blueberry. Those same juicy, ripe fruits drench your palate while swimming in soft tannins. Unlike many wines with this amount of intensely ripe fruit, the wine remains plush, generous, punchy and engaging.
