"Philippe Jouan’s 2019 Clos Sorbé old vine bottling is beautifully perfumed out of the
blocks, coupling the lovely ripe fruit of the vintage with fine soil inflection and impressive early elegance. The wine delivers a sappy, pure bouquet of plums, red and black cherries, cocoa powder, dark soil tones, pigeon, violets, a hint of cardamom, woodsmoke and a deft framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with beautiful transparency and grip, fine-grained tannins, lovely focus and balance and a long, elegant and gorgeous finish.
