"The 2019 Aux Echézeaux from Monsieur Jouan, with just a touch more of the muscular personality of the vintage than the Chambolle and Morey Vieilles Vignes. The nose jumps from the glass in a complex blend of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, gamebird, a touch of mustard seed, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a sappy core of fruit, fine soil signature and grip, ripe, firm tannins and a long, well-balanced and very classy finish. These eighty year-old vines have excelled in this hot summer and have produced a potentially long-lived and very classy villages level bottling from Gevrey."  [John Gilman - VFTC]
