Ben Jordan hedged a lot when explaining this Riesling to me, as it went through full malolactic fermentation, not a typical path for Riesling. I'm not hedging, and neither are some of my friends who've tried this wine — it rips. Despite the added body and fat from malo, it has such a vivid crackle of acid that is simply thrilling. Lemon curd, saline, and bracing mineral depth, this is one of the best domestic Rieslings I've come across. Those who know my stubborn fealty to German Riesling will know I don't often offer this kind of praise. From Mount Airy Farm in Fort Defiance in the ridges and hillsides of the Shenandoah Valley, this is a project of the three Jordan brothers: Ben, Gray, and Tim. [Jonathan Kemp, September 2021]
