Wasenhaus: Brilliance Emerges in Baden

Wasenhaus: Brilliance Emerges in Baden

Wasenhaus was formed on hallowed land: Burgundy's where winemakers Christoph Götze and Alex Wolber met, and Burdundy's where they spent years making some of the region's greatest wines (at Comte Armaud, Leflaive, de Montille and Pierre Morey, among others). But when it came time to start their own project, Christoph guided them towards his home — east, toward Baden, Germany. Now, Christoph lives near his family’s farm (also called Wasenhaus), and Alex, who still works as the vineyard manager for Domaine de Montille, commutes from Burgundy, which is just two and a half hours away. One taste will convince you that Baden, in the best years, in the most skilled hands, more than competes with Burgundy. These wines are simply brilliant.
