This wine almost didn't make into the club, but we found out that the 2021 "Lemonade" had arrived in New York right before the end of the month, and we rushed to get our hands on it. Many of you have probably heard Brianne Day's name around here. She's our buddy and one of our favorite American winemakers. We're thrilled to have 2 of her wines in the club this month.
This is the second vintage of Lemonade that Brianne has made, and thankfully this years wine was made by choice rather than by necessity. In 2020, due to the unprecedented wildfires that rocked Oregon, Brianne opted out of making most of the Pinot Noir she sourced that year as red wine and instead direct pressed it all with the intention of making a White Pinot. The wine came out a little more pink than intended, and this year it's straight up rose. 2021 saw much less smoke pressure, but due to the pervious vintages success, Brianne decided to double down and make even more Lemonade! Sourced exclusively from organically farmed vineyards, pressed off right away and fermented in stainless steel, this is almost nouveau style rose, bottled after 2 months of aging in order to retain the wines brilliant energy and freshness.
Tart citrus, green strawberry and cantaloupe mingle on joyful palate. Bright, easy and insanely crushable, this is the perfect wine to sip while we say goodbye to 2021.
