Frenchtown Farms "Indigeaux" Renaissance Vineyard North Yuba 2017Regular price $35.00 Save $-35.00
There is a density and power in this wine that is undeniable, one that clearly belongs to Renaissance: the sun bakes the wines into ripeness by day, and the vineyard is cool and windy by night. Rocky granite soils give the wine a powerful mineral character. On the one hand, it reminds me of Bordeaux in that it’s earth-driven, chewy — but on the other hand the fruit has California ripeness, both slick and textured. Though very high acid the acidity is disguised and buried within the full body and silky texture. Like any of the Bordeaux blends from Renaissance, this one has tremendous aging potential, though it is satisfying in youth, too. Wet earth, roasted beets, smoke, tar. It's a mouthful of dirt and a spot on interpretation of this distinguished terroir.
