Spätburgunder from the Saar, whole-cluster semi-carbonic, low or zero sulfur added. Does not go through malolactic fermentation because of very cold temperatures in the Weber's cellar. Though they planted these vines as Spätburgunder over two decades ago, authorities claim it is a mutation and not officially Spätburgunder, so they are made to label it simply as "Rotwein," that is, red wine. Whatever it is, it's a singularly delicious red wine that is without comparison in Germany. It tastes more like to Loire Gamay than German Pinot Noir. Certainly no complaints here.
