From the importer: Field blend of mainly Mouraton and Mencía, with Merenzao, Gran Negro and Garnacha Tintorera and other unidentified varieties, from ancient vines (the oldest are own-rooted) in Soutipedre in the village of Manzaneda. Slate soils, older vines, and lower elevation distinguish ‘Do Pobo’ from ‘Da Vila’ – sheltered by the twists of the mountains, this site has a more continental climate, with cooler nights. Grapes partially destemmed (about 80%) and foot-trodden, macerate on skins for 15 days, fermented in open-top used French oak barrels, then raised for 11 months in used 300L barrels. No clarification, cold stabilization, filtration. 8-10ppm SO2.
